Since 2019 our agency has been working on various projects for the Austrian National Library:

önb.digital

The flagship of digital innovation within the library sector, önb.digital is the unified search engine where all databases are integrated to allow users to search elements across millions of entries.

For the development of this portal, our agency has been on board from the beginning. While the internal at the library is in charge of unifying the search engines into a SOLR database, we are developing the user interface based on a long term roadmap and on a strategy that we developed together with an interdisciplinary team.

The portal grows with functions every quarter, currently entitling the following functionalities, all developed by us:

-       Basic, multi-facet search

-       Shareable search queries over social media

-       Automated "discovery" landing page based on thematic searches

-       Favourites and list creation for customers and researchers

-       Integration of a "full-text search" for enhanced search

Digital Ticket Shop

An important project for the ÖNB was the new creation and launch of an online ticket shop. The shop we have designed and implemented serves tickets across all houses of the museum and allows the booking of guided tours and events.

It is connected to the internal booking systems, entry control system and bookkeeping system to automate all related processes.

Yearly ticket owners can also prolong, manage, and create digital tickets, easing thousands of customers.

Upload platform

The ÖNB is a central point (by Austrian law) in collecting any sort of publication published within Austria. For this, our agency was commissioned to develop a comprehensive upload tool where registered users can submit their PDF or EPUB publications with a large set of metadata that can be automatically imported to the databases of the national library.

Such a digitized ecosystem creates an easy upload process for all publishers while also reducing the workload on the library's side.

Newspapers Archive

In addition to all the above tasks, we also created a light relaunch and skinning to the library's newspaper and juridical documents archive (https://anno.onb.ac.at and https://alex.onb.ac.at) with millions of entries to be searched for. We have set up the content portals on Drupal to fit the overall IT landscape of the library.
