USE CASE
Vienna Digital Cultures

For Vienna Digital Cultures, a new annual art festival in Vienna, treat.agency developed the complete visual identity: logo concept, website, and all print and digital campaign materials. The festival is a collaboration between Kunsthalle Wien and Foto Arsenal Wien, with alternating leadership each year. Its theme changes annually, and the flexible design system reflects this evolving nature while ensuring strong brand continuity.

A flexible, clear and memorable branding.

Vienna Digital Cultures (VDC) is a new annual art festival that explores the entanglements of digital technologies and contemporary cultural production. A collaboration between Kunsthalle Wien and Foto Arsenal Wien, the festival’s leadership alternates each year, as does its curatorial focus — reflected in an identity system designed to evolve alongside it.

treat.agency was responsible for shaping the entire visual and digital presence of the festival, from the logo and core branding to the website, social media templates, and all printed and online materials. Central to the design concept is a bold, technoid aesthetic that embraces a “sticker” principle — a core logo mark layered over ever-changing visual content, allowing the identity to remain recognizable yet responsive to annual shifts in theme. The typeface references digital language while subtly undermining its own codes, and the color scheme changes each year, giving every edition a clearly defined tone without compromising the integrity of the brand.

The soon-to-be-launched website will be built to WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards that balances high visual impact with functional inclusivity — a deliberate tension between loud aesthetics and quiet usability.
